Fans ranging from comic books, video games, film and television all filled the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center for the annual Wizard World Comic and Gaming Convention August 18th through the 21st.

This year’s convention was one of the most star-studded events to come to Chicago as it featured stars from Netflix’s Daredevil Charlie Cox, Rosario Dawson, Elden Henson; WWE superstars John Cena, Seth Rollins, Bailey; and others from shows and film including The Walking Dead, Star Wars, and Clerks.

Wizard World they kicked off the weekend-long fest with their dedication to everyday heroes with their Heroes Honoring Heroes initiative as the incredible Hulk himself Lou Ferrigno help honor local servicemen including Chief Don Stephens, Chris Stephens, John Maatta and others from the Rosemont public safety department. Ferrigno was also dubbed an honorary public safety officer as he wore the uniform during the presentation.

What’s a con without the interesting and creative adaptations of comic and film heroes and villains. This year’s most popular costumes inspired by the recently released Suicide Squad film with groups posing as each character from the mixed criticized movie. Besides the adults, kids also go in on the action as toddlers walk the convention dressed as different characters including Deadpool and ghostbusters.

Fans of gaming got first hands on the unreleased Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse 2, and the highly anticipated Tekken 7 which features Street Fighters own Akuma. The gaming room also featured cult classic games including Back to the Future and Super Smash Brothers. This year’s tournament winners received cash prizes in Smash Bros, Naruto, and Tekken. Following the hype behind the Pokemon Go trend, the different teams (valor, mystic, and instinct) held a meeting to discuss their goals and offer tips on catching Pokemon.

Wizard World, although four days long, featured so many vendors, celebrities, panels, and comics that it felt like you haven’t seen everything even though you probably walked around multiple times.

The next stop for Wizard World will be Richmond, VA from September 9-11. If you didn’t get a chance to experience the con this year don’t worry because the date is already saved for it returns to Chicago August 24-27 in 2017. Information for next year’s event is already available online at Until then Happy Watching, Reading, and Gaming.
